These Chocolate Covered Potato Chips are the ultimate sweet and salty treat! Crunchy, ridged potato chips coated in smooth, melted chocolate make an easy and delicious snack. Perfect for parties, gifts, or a fun dessert!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup milk chocolate chips (or dark/white chocolate)
  • 8 cups ridged potato chips (sturdy chips hold up best)
  • Optional Toppings:
    • Sea salt (for extra contrast)
    • Crushed nuts (adds crunch and nuttiness)
    • White chocolate drizzle (for a gourmet touch)

Instructions

  1. Prep the workspace: Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and arrange the chips in a single layer.
  2. Melt the chocolate: Use a double boiler on low heat, stirring frequently. Or, microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring each time until smooth. Add 1 tbsp vegetable shortening for a silkier texture if needed.
  3. Dip the chips: Using tongs or a fork, dip each potato chip into the melted chocolate, letting excess drip off. Place on the baking sheet.
  4. Let them set: Leave at room temperature for 1-2 hours or refrigerate for 20-30 minutes until hardened.
  5. Enjoy! Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to one week.

Notes

  • For a healthier option: Use baked chips and dark chocolate.
  • Want extra crunch? Add crushed pretzels or toffee bits.
  • Storing tip: Refrigerate to keep fresh longer, but bring to room temp before serving.
